Why is children’s dentistry so important?

Milk teeth (baby teeth) begin to appear anywhere from around 6 months of age. Usually, by the age of 8, all milk teeth have erupted.

Whilst ‘milk teeth’ aren’t permanent, they play a significant role in learning to eat and speak and also in the spacing and positioning of future adult teeth. The enamel on milk teeth is less dense than on adult teeth. This makes them more prone to decay and other issues if not taken care of.

So, it pays to have a dentist you trust monitoring your child’s oral health right from the very beginning. They can help your child maintain great oral hygiene through the important dental milestones, detecting any potential issues before they become irreversible.

When should my child have their first dental appointment?

It’s a good idea to book your child in for their first dental appointment once their first tooth appears.

We know you’re busy – so, we make it easy. You can make an appointment with the click of a button on our online booking system. We also offer extended and weekend opening hours for your convenience.

Children between the ages of 2 and 18 in Australia may have access to the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). The aim of this Commonwealth-funded initiative is to provide basic children’s dental care through the private dental system.

Benefits are bulk-billed and capped at $1013 per child over a 2 year period and include most general children’s dental treatments.
